There was a point in time when companies from all over the world would set up extensive drilling setups trying to find oil. One of these companies was Texaco. ON 12 February 1983, they drilled a hole almost 8000 feet below the ground in Erding, Germany. They were hoping to strike oil, but they didn't. Instead, they found sulfurous water.
The great thing is that instead of letting that 8000-meter hole waste away, a mini thermal bath was created using the water. Little did anyone know that it would end up being the largest thermal bath spa in the world one day! Today, that one "mini" spa is Therme Erding, and it spans across 1,560,000 square feet and is filled with adventures that everyone needs to have at least once in their lives. 4000 people visit the location every day!
Here are all of the information visitors need to know about Therme Erding before making the trip over. So when they do go, they can make sure that they won't miss all of the fun stuff!
Erding Therme Spa and Park
The Erding Therme Spa and Park is so extensive that it had to be split up into multiple wings to easily navigate the different experiences. There's "Galaxy," "Thermenparadies," "Vital-Oase," and "Saunaparadies." Each wing has something totally different to offer, making this truly a place where anyone can find something to enjoy!
#1: Galaxy
Galaxy is where all of the waterslides are at Erding Therme. In total, there are 20, with one of them holding the record for the world's second-longest waterslide! It stretches across 281 meters of thrilling, insane sliding! That doesn't mean that the entire wing is just scary water slides, though; they've split all of the slides up according to levels of difficulty. There are three levels, so everyone can just go on the type of slide they'll be okay with! One of the slides is a literal VR slide. Visitors wear a VR headset as they slide down to have an alien adventure experience they can't get anywhere else!
#2: Thermenparadies
The Thremenparadies is a 296,000 square foot thermal spa area that's under a glass dome. In the winter, the dome helps keep things super warm and cozy. In the summertime, it's opened up to create a fresher, breezy environment. The main attraction of this area is the 15,600 square foot spa pool. While the visitors are inside it, they can go to the pool bar, enjoy a drink and a snack, and go to the cave or the waterfall! There are massage jets, saunas, quiet rooms, massage rooms, and pretty much every relaxing thing one can ask for. If someone's looking for a place to rejuvenate, this is the place to be!
#3: Vital-Oase
Next up is the Vital-Oase. This is the section of the spa park that's only for people aged 16 and above. While the spa pool is excellent, the real attraction here is the sulfur mineral springs, where visitors can soak up all the mineral goodness the spa has to offer! There are several mineral pools with different minerals like calcium and selenium for the visitors to choose from! Here, there are swimming pools attached with a pool bar. In the daytime, it's a nice calming place, and at night there's usually a DJ at the scene, and the place fully transforms into an underwater club!
#4: Saunaparadies
The Saunaparadies is where things go traditional. This is a no clothes area, only open to people above 16. The inside spans 290,000 square feet, and the sauna gardens are an impressive 150,000 square feet. The main building has 7 different saunas inside. There's also a meditation pool and a sauna only for ladies. Apart from that, the outside features several pools and whirlpools for everyone to enjoy throughout the day!
All set for a steamy day!
This little guide covers all of the bases when it comes to Therme Erding. Since there’s so much to experience at the spa, it might just be a good idea to keep this guide saved to be able to come back to it, so no matter what time of the year it is, there’s no experience left behind!
